Magic Bullet Maniacs

September 13th, 2006

We got sucked into watching the Magic Bullet blender infomercial again today! So tacky but so addictive. My husband even has a favorite line - “Dinnah’s always a production” (Hazel)

Despite our unhealthy fascination with the infomercial, we haven’t been converted into owners yet. It gets some mixed reviews for functionality (amazon.com), but my mom just bought one, so I have a chance to examine it in action. If we were to purchase it, I would not buy it though the TV offer. For some reason, all infomercials think it’s a fabulous idea to give you an extra item “free” and the Magic Bullet is no exception. If you order the TV offer, you pay $99.99 to receive 2 Magic Bullets, and pay the fine print processing and handling fee, an exhorbitant $39.98! Sneaky fees= pet peeve.

I’ve seen it at Target, Kohl’s, Bed Bath and Beyond, JCPenney, etc. It’s EVERYWHERE (we aren’t the only suckers for the commercial) and priced universally at $59.99. I believe Target had it on sale for $49.99 a few weeks ago. The best deal is probably to take advantage of a 20% off one item coupon that Bed Bath and Beyond seems to mail at least once a month, and pay $47.99 plus tax.
