Frugal Stinginess

September 29th, 2006

This article’s from a couple of months ago, but relevant to Monday’s issue of using coupons on dates: “Are you frugal, or stingy?” by Liz Pulliam Weston on MSN.

Which am I? I can be either, although I definitely aim for frugal! It really comes down to keeping the right attitude towards “my” possessions that God has given me. I think I’m called to be a good steward of my resources, and that means discerning when I’m to give/spend generously, as well as when to hold back. NOT an easy assignment, but, through God’s grace, achievable.

We’ve established that I have a lot to learn in the wise spending department, but according to the article, there is hope for me: It would never occur to me to serve a used teabag to a guest!
