My “After Christmas Sales” Objectives
December 25th, 2006The dust from Christmas shopping is still settling, and tomorrow we launch straight into post-Christmas sales, as retailers clear out their holiday stock and sell off their winter inventory.
In addition to general deal hunting this week, I’m targeting two seasonal bargain categories during my shopping forays:
A. Clearance Christmas decorations/ornaments/wrapping/cards/etc. for next year. Why pay full price 11 months from now if you can plan ahead and save 75%? At this point, I’ve accumulated so many supplies from previous years that this objective is a lower priority, limited to rock-bottom price, can’t-miss deals.
B. Items lumped into Christmas clearance that can be creatively used outside of the Christmas holidays. This is where the broadest bargain potential lies. A great example is red or green anythings. I picked up a box of earrings for 50% off at Claire’s last week, because they were in a Christmas tin and the assortment was all red and green. No reindeer, no snowmen, no red-and-green mix pieces, just some basic studs and chandeliers that I can match with outfits year-round.
More possibilities…
-Red cups and plates for Valentine’s Day or a Fourth of July party?
-Multi-purpose wrapping paper designs or gift bags?
-Gourmet food assortments or chocolates that you can enjoy yourself or give away (if the packaging doesn’t scream “Christmas”)? Yum!
-Numerous bath products, gadgets, etc. that department stores have stocked specifically for the Christmas season?
-Other suggestions?
