Successive Obsessive
June 23rd, 2007Looking back over a year of posts, I definitely notice a succession of bargain obsessions as I learned about different programs - Target web coupons in August, CVS ECB’s in October, Beer meat rebates in November, etc.
Currently, I’m loving Kmart, as evidenced by my third post mentioning it. This time I have to post that if you only go to Kmart one weekend a year, this is probably the weekend to do it - All clearance merchandise is an additional 30% off this weekend at least through Tuesday, and there is a lot of stuff on clearance in each department. Sure it’s piled haphazardly in aisles and blocking main thoroughfares, but a little digging is rewarded with cheap oven mitts, exercise equipment, and toys. (But please do the world a favor and leave the Bratz merchandise on the shelves!)
PLUS, take along this $10 off $50 purchase coupon for even more savings (The coupon comes directly from Kmart’s website, you can access it by finding the “National Bingo Night” link on the main page)
I agree! My son took his allowance and found a LeapPad book and cartridge marked $1 (reg. $14, or $8 at Big Lots). The additional clearance made it 70 cents total.
Thanks so much for passing this along! I have 4 sons in school, and the school will be letting us know over the summer whether the kids will be wearing uniforms or not this fall. I expressed my frustration to the principal, telling her that I couldn’t just go out in August and buy 4 complete wardrobes at once when we got the message. But at SuperKMart last night, they had school uniforms with the polo and khakis together on the same hanger. The clearance tag said $7, marked down from $14.99. But thanks to your advice, I loaded up my cart with all of the appropriate sizes, went to the nearest price scanner, and found that the complete outfits were actually ringing up at $4.00. With the coupon link that you included, I paid $3.20 for a polo shirt and khakis AND the receipt says that I can return them until Sept 26, so that I’m not stuck with the uniforms if the boys don’t need them! Polo shirts by themselves were $2 and so were leather belts for boys. I was also able to get Superman/Batman cotton pjs in double paks for $4.80. I’d pay $2.40 for newish pjs at the resale shop!
The coupon also worked on groceries! Kmart was having the General Mills milk special and the cereals were on sale. I made one trip through and got the clothes and cereal, took them to the van, and came back and got the free milk and more clothes, using another coupon.
Meredith, your son is quite the bargain hunter (Not too surprising, I’m sure you’ve taught him well)
Elizabeth, I’m so glad the info was helpful to you! Sweet deal on the uniforms and other items.
