Not-So-Frugal Decoration

December 12th, 2007

Since everyone is brimming with frugal gift and decoration ideas, I thought I’d contribute a “less than frugal” suggestion that I found mentioned in the November 2007 issue of American Baby:

“Ready to deck the halls? Let your preschooler pitch in with this Christmas Paper Chains kit, from Alex ($10; alextoys.com). Kids can make the chain, link by link, using a glue stick or tape.”

As my DH likes to say, there had better be a $10 bill in the package.

I’m officially declaring maternity leave for the next few days (weeks?), but stay tuned, and I’ll be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, please keep us in your prayers for a healthy delivery!

    WHAT? Howsat?
Whatever happened to teaching your kids how to make a paper chain by, you know - CUTTING STRIPS OF PAPER YOURSELF?
Our “have it now” society has pretty much proven its end with this one - ‘cuz you know folks will really buy this for their kids. Oh, and the nanny to do with them - because the parents are busy with their martinis or something.

Wishing you a safe delivery and tons of happy memories to share when you “come back” from leave. :-P

Wow. Just wow. How lazy are we getting? *sigh*

Half of the fun of paper chains, from what I remember, was cutting the edges: scallops, zig zag, straight, curved…kids today miss out on the fun.

And just as a heads up, Target has Huggies Products $3/2 target coupon. Stack that with a $1 off dipeys of $.75/2 wipes, the wipes are around 15 cents a box. You’ll go through a lot those first few weeks, so thought you might want to arm DH and send him off to the store. :)

Many wishes for a fun, happy delivery! Yes, I said fun. If you get a good epidural and keep a positive attitude, it is a TON of fun delivering the baby. :) My DH and I laughed, watched a Brewers game, and enjoyed the entire process, thanks to a wonderful anesthesiologist. :) Merry Christmas! Enjoy your little one, when he comes!
