Festival of Frugality up at FIRE Finance

January 16th, 2007

This week’s festival has been very promptly posted by FIRE Finance, who has organized the entries as a series of reminiscences by photographer Joe about frugal principles taught by his parents. The format itself serves as a good reminder of the importance for parents to teach and exemplify the wise use of money to their children.

My contribution was “A Date With the Calendar Store” and some submissions I personally appreciated include-

The discussion at Simple Dollar regarding how and why he and his wife dropped their cable subscription but kept watching their favorite TV shows.

Perenially valuable questions to pose before making any impulse purchase, at Penny Pinching.

Along the same lines (and very similar to my last thought in yesterday’s post), “It’s Only a Bargain If It’s Something You Need,” at Frugal Babe.

Not part of the festival, but yet another remonstrance for careful spending, “Ten Ways to Avoid Financially Irresponsible Buying,” also at Simple Dollar.
